Factory website checklist for export manufacturers

THE SHORT ANSWER

A professional factory website normally explains the company, products, manufacturing capabilities, quality control, applicable certificates, applications, customization and inquiry process. Start with the questions buyers need answered before deciding how many pages to build.

Step 1: make the company’s role clear

The homepage should state your main products and role: manufacturer, trader or both. The company page explains the actual scope and working arrangements. Avoid unattributed facility photos and abstract slogans that replace product names. Buyers should be able to understand the basics without a phone explanation.

Step 2: connect products to manufacturing

Product pages explain materials, specifications, applications and options; capability pages explain how products are made. Equipment lists need purpose and scope, not just model numbers or photographs. Clarify outsourced steps. Preparing one representative product and process first can reveal missing content fields.

Step 3: make quality information verifiable

Explain checks, responsible roles and records across incoming, in-process and outgoing stages. Verify certificate holders, scope and validity before publishing. Obtain permission for sample reports and remove customer identifiers. When a certificate is not held, explain the actual process instead of displaying unrelated marks.

Step 4: help buyers prepare an inquiry

Explain which products, quantities, materials, markets and timing the buyer should provide. Collect an initial summary and exchange confidential drawings through an agreed channel. Offer clickable phone and email links, with clear form success and failure states. Assign someone to review and follow up; the website does not replace sales operations.

Step 5: verify each language before launch

Use separate Chinese and English URLs and check titles, language switching and navigation. Have product owners review units, terms and specifications, then test mobile forms and contact links. Map old URLs, check sitemaps, 404 handling and crawl rules. Assign a content owner to update changed products and expired certificates.

Action checklist

  • Company role and main products are clear
  • Specifications have units and conditions
  • Factory and quality materials are real and approved
  • Both languages have usable contact paths
  • Launch, updates and inquiry follow-up have owners
